THE security forces recovered a number of illegal items during a cordon and search operation in Cassava Piece, St Andrew last Friday.

A release issued yesterday by the Jamaica Defence Force – a week after the operation – said the incident occurred at about 8:35 am when a joint police/military team went to the area to conduct the search operation. Six molotov cocktail bombs, one 7.62 cartridge, one facial mask, one home-made weapon along with metal parts (that are configured to be used in a home-made weapon) were found during the cordon and search operation.

Thirty people, the release said, were detained and the illegal items were taken to the Constant Spring Police Station for processing.
