KINGSTON, Jamaica - An additional 500 officers have been added to the police’s patrol roster, in time for the festive season, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Glenmore Hinds said Wednesday morning.

According to Hinds the holiday operations of the force started earlier in the year in its anticipation of increased commercial and social activities.
“As at last weekend, police personnel working in administrative offices have been doing duties on the road especially in the commercial districts,” Hind said at a police press conference held at The Police Officers Club on Hope Road, St Andrew.

He sought to reassure the public that the police will be out in numbers but cautioned that people should follow police safety tips available through media.

Hinds also encouraged people to report quickly any suspicious activity.
