KINGSTON, Jamaica – The police on Monday arrested and charged 77-year-old Leeland Playfair, a former attorney of Merrian Road in Vineyard Town, Kingston for forgery.
Reports are that in July 2013, Playfair allegedly forged divorce papers for a man to give to his wife. The wife became suspicious and made checks with the Supreme Court, which confirmed the papers were forged.
Her husband was arrested and charged on November 19, 2013. Further investigations by the police led to the discovery of Playfair’s role.
Playfair, a long-disbarred attorney, was previously brought before the court on fraud charges in 2014.
He is to appear before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
