8-y-o dies in St Catherine fire

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica -- An eight year old boy died in a fire on Monday at his home in Planters district St Catherine.

He has been identified as Samuel Clarke.

Police reports are that the boy was at home about 1:00 pm when the one bedroom dwelling caught fire. He was trapped inside and perished before he could be assisted.

The boy’s mother was reportedly elsewhere in the community when the incident occured.

A team from Old Harbour fire department conducted cooling down operations.
