Port Antonio Hospital in Portland was the beneficiary of medical supplies courtesy of United States -based nurse Desrene Dunns who was part of the recent Diaspora team to Jamaica

"I came down on a medical mission in Hanover with the Diaspora team and we had a whole lot of things and I thought of Port Antonio as this is where I was born," she said

Dunns who lives in Chicago said it is such a delight to be able to give back.

" I feel a sense of appreciation in giving back and I will do it any other day whenever we have things".

Among the items donated is a Pulse Ox machine which is used to check the pulse rate and oxygen level in persons, especially surgical patients. Other supplies included medications, dressings, syringes and bandages among others.

Chief Executive Officer of Port Antonio Hospital Jasmin Campbell expressed gratitude for the gifts.

"We are very appreciative of the gifts donated by our friend from the United States Diaspora Nurse Desrene Dunns as they will help us to offer better management and care for our patients," she said.
