PATRICK Powell, the businessman facing a charge of murder for the shooting death of former Kingston College student Khajeel Mais, is to face trial in the Home Circuit on July 17.

The date was set when Powell appeared in court for trial last week. The trial, which was set to start last week, didn't get off the ground because another trial was in progress.

Mais was shot and killed on July 1, 2011 while on his way to a fete at the Meadowbrook High School in St Andrew. The shooting occurred in Havendale after the taxi in which he was travelling crashed in the rear of a BMW X6 sport utility vehicle.
