Alleged killer of senior citizen pleads self-defence
A driver who reportedly stabbed a senior citizen to death, while claiming self-defence, is scheduled to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on July 7.
The accused, 29-year-old Calvin Orr, of East Road in Kingston, is charged for fatal stabbing of 65-year-old Derrick Wallace, of Linstead, St Catherine, on November 7, last year.
According to police report, occupants at the home where Orr was residing heard cries for help around 11:50 pm and went to investigate. Orr, who reportedly had a knife in his hand, was seen standing over Wallace who was lying on his back in a pool of blood.
It is reported that Orr when questioned about the incident, said, "A defend me did a defend miself, him did ago kill me."
The police was summoned and Orr was arrested and charged.
However, on Tuesday when he appeared in court, Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey extended his bail after the court was informed that the post mortem report was not yet available.
