Alleged rapists face ID parade today

Wednesday, October 03, 2012

MONTEGO BAY, St James — The two suspects held in connection with the rape five of females, including an eight-year-old girl, last week in Irwin Point, are scheduled to face an identification parade today.

According to a police source, one of the suspects — who is in his early 20s — was picked up by lawmen last Tuesday, while the other, said to be about 18 years old, turned himself in to the police on Friday.

The victims were tied up and repeatedly assaulted at gunpoint. The eight-year-old had to undergo emergency surgery as a result of the ordeal.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation with many calling for the laws to be changed to allow for such grievous sexual offences to be punishable by death.
