Anchovy teen charged in schoolmate's stabbing death

KINGSTON, Jamaica -- The 14-year-old female student of Anchovy High school who was allegedly stabbed a schoolmate to death last week has been charged with murder.

She was taken into custody following the stabbing death of Jamella Dawkins during a fight near the St James school last Wednesday.

Police say the two schoolgirls were involved in a fight when a knife was brought into play. Dawkins was stabbed and taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The arrested teen who has not been named as she is a minor will appear in court Wednesday.
