Apology
Wednesday, March 17, 2010
On May 28, 2009 we published an article entitled '$50-M Legal Costs Claim! Vaz accuses Dabdoub of using court cases as 'money-making venture' in both our print and Internet editions of the Observer. The article contained a comment made by Mr Daryl Vaz in relation to Mr Abe Dabdoub's motives in bringing election petitions.
The Observer has been advised that the comment made by Mr Daryl Vaz is inaccurate. The Observer wishes to advise its readers that it is satisfied that:
1. The Bill of Costs for $49.1 million, filed in the Supreme Court by Gayle Nelson & Co, the attorneys-at-law on the record for Mr Abraham (Abe) Dabdoub, the Petitioner, related solely to charges in respect to work done by Gayle Nelson & Co and attorneys-at-law engaged by them in pursuing the petition.
2. Mr Abraham (Abe) Dabdoub will not benefit from any taxed costs to be paid by Mr Daryl Vaz.
The Jamaica Observer unreservedly retracts its publication of the comment made by Mr Daryl Vaz and apologises to Mr Abraham (Abe) Dabdoub for the error and any embarrassment caused by the publication.
