Arnold Foote meets Pope Benedict

Jamaican advertising entrepreneur, diplomat and philanthropist Arnold Foote (second right) was yesterday received by Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican. Foote, who is president of the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC), was accompanied to the Vatican by members of the FICAC Board of Directors. "As a Jamaican Catholic I bring greetings from the church and the people of Jamaica," Foote told the Pontiff. He also presented Pope Benedict with the FICAC Gold Star for his efforts to improve the lives of all human beings around the world. The FICAC Gold Star is the highest award given to world leaders who have served with distinction to the development of their country and the world. More than 8,000 people witnessed the presentation in Saint Peter's Square today. Foote says having audience with the Pope has been the "greatest spiritual high" for him. He said, too, that as a diplomat the unprecedented audience with the Pontiff for the FICAC Board is a significant achievement for the international diplomatic community.
