Assault rifle, pistol and ammo seized in Kingston

KINGSTOn, Jamaica — Police in the Corporate Area seized an AK-47 assault rifle, a pistol and three rounds of ammunition during separate operations yesterday.
Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the seizure.
Police report that they searched a premises at Hanover Street in downtown Kingston and found a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol with a magazine and eight 9 mm rounds.
Two people were arrested but their identities were not released by the police.
Shortly after the Hunts Bay police seized an AK-47 and three 9mm rounds on Payne Avenue in Tavares Gardens, popularly known as 'Payne Land'.
The cops say they were on patrol in the community, when they attempted to accost a group of men who ran off.
The magazine and rounds were found during a search of the area.
