Autopsy on Port Royal road body today
Kimmo Matthews
Friday, October 19, 2012
AN autopsy is to be conducted today on the body of an unidentified girl, which was found on fire in bushes along the Port Royal road on Wednesday.
"When this is completed we believe this will put us in an even more advanced position to identify the girl," Deputy Superintendent of Police Hornet Williams told the Jamaica Observer yesterday.
The nude body of the girl, estimated to be about 14 years old, was found wrapped in tarpaulin with hands bound and a cord around the neck. The police believe she was raped and her body set alight to destroy evidence.
The discovery was made by firefighters who were responding to a report about a bush fire from an anonymous caller.
Since the discovery, police have been calling on the parents of missing girls to help identify the body.
Yesterday, the East Kingston police said they received a flood of calls from parents of missing children as well police from other divisions.
"...We are moving to step up our investigations," Williams declared.
