Bad breath beating gives woman $6,000 fine
A woman who told the court that she used a piece of board to hit another woman because the woman had bad breath and refused to heed her warning not to talk to her, was ordered to pay $6,000 or serve six months in prison when she appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
The court heard that the complainant was walking in the community of Phase I, Seaview Gardens in Kingston when she was approached by Marcia Gilmore, who used a piece of board to hit the complainant in her face causing bruises and swelling to her mouth.
However, Gilmore told the court that she had been suffering for seven years now because of the complainant's "bad breath".
"Your honour, I have been suffering for some time now because of this woman. She has bad breath and she loves to talk in people's faces and I warn her not to talk in my face," Gilmore related.
"But I didn't really hit her, she came up in my face and I had piece of wood in my hand and I pushed it in her face and it caught her on her mouth," Gilmore added
"And for that you will pay $6,000 or serve six months," RM Judith Pusey quickly replied, sparking laughter from the court.
