Bail extended for motor vehicle examiner, associates on corruption charges

KINGSTON, Jamaica -- A senior motor vehicle examiner and two other men who are facing corruption charges had their bails extended when they appeared in the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The three accused are: 58-year- old Howard Shloss, senior motor vehicle examiner of Duhaney Park, 60 –year-old Earl Madden of Seaforth, and 74- year-old Harold Hue, of Church Corner: both in St Thomas.

They were charged after being arrested in Kingston and St Thomas on Friday by investigators from MOCA  during operations stemming from a corruption probe.

Reports are on March 28, the police carried out simultaneous operations in the parishes of Kingston and St Thomas which resulted in the arrest of the three.

Their arrests stem from a multi-agency probe into irregularities into the process in which persons are granted new and upgraded driver’s licences.

They will reappear in court on Thursday, July 17.
