Bail for assistant chef on murder rap extended
Friday, August 24, 2012
The 23-year-old woman who reportedly stabbed an Italian chef to death last month is scheduled to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.
Latoya Wilks, an assistant chef of a Spanish Town address in St Catherine, is charged for the July 1 murder of 40-year-old Pablo Auigliano, both employees of Caffé Da Vinci at the Market Place in St Andrew.
When Wilks appeared in court Tuesday, her attorney Sean Kinghorn requested copies of the statement and the matter was reset for mention today. Wilks' bail was also extended.
The chef was stabbed to death during a dispute at their workplace. It is reported that the two got involved in a squabble after the chef spilled hot oil on Wilks. The matter escalated and a knife was reportedly used to stab the chef in his neck.
But according to Kinghorn, his client was fending off an attack from the Italian when the incident occurred.
