Bandit fatally shoots himself during robbery

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Police said that a 25-year-old man was shot and killed minutes after he robbed passengers in a taxi which he had earlier hijacked in Chaguanas, central Trinidad on Monday.
They said Abraham Bourne, died seated next to two female passengers, whom he had earlier robbed of cash, jewellery and other valuables, but when he turned the gun to the driver's wife, who was seated in the vehicle, a struggle ensued, resulting in him being shot in the forehead.
The dead man was identified by his mother, Glenda Bourne, and his wife, Whitney Mayers.
Police were told that Bourne got into the back seat of the taxi and announced a holdup as the vehicle neared a traffic light intersection.
