KINGSTON, Jamaica — Customs seized almost 500 cases of banned mosquito coils this morning.
The black mosquito coils have been at the centre of six major seizures in the last two months.
This morning’s shipment, falsely declared as furniture, was valued at $1.96 million.
The coils, also called Mosquito Medicine, are not approved for use locally and have been prohibited by the Pesticide Control Authority.
No arrests have been made for the breach which can be punished by severe fines.
