These two fishermen from White River in Portland, Quado (left) and Desmond 'Joel' Phillips, landed this marlin weighing over 500 pounds Monday afternoon just off the coast of Port Antonio.
Phillips told the Jamaica Observer that the marlin bit about 3:00 pm and fought for approximately 15 minutes before they were able to land it.
"This marlin weighs over 500 pounds," said Phillips. "We took it down by the Ole Marina and put it on the scale and it 'buck' it."
The fishermen said they will be taking part in the annual Port Antonio International Marlin Tournament scheduled for October 20-27.
