Bloodbath - 11-year-old girl among 8 victims of massacre
Police seek gangsters for Tredegar Park massacre
BY COREY ROBINSON Observer staff reporter robinsonc@jamaicaobserver.com
Saturday, August 14, 2010
THE shock and horror of the savagery unleashed by marauding gunmen on Tredegar Park, Spanish Town, St Catherine early yesterday morning was still vividly displayed on the faces of residents at mid-morning.
The fearful residents huddled in tight groups as they discussed the brutal murders of eight of their neighbours, among them 11-year-old Alexifia Anderson.
Shortly after 1:00 yesterday afternoon, police identified the other dead persons as Alexifia's mother Hopelin Dennis, 43; her sister Nekfifa Anderson, 23; and her brother Joel Anderson.
The others, who were killed on separate premises, were identified as Eldon Heron, 60; his son, Eldon Heron Jnr, 38; Gary Stewart, 22; and Orrett Miller, 26. Another male was also hospitalised in serious condition for gunshot wounds.
The police reported that two of the gunmen said to be involved in the early morning massacre were killed in a shoot-out. Police identified them as Jerome Williams, and a man known only as 'Kevin' or 'Bilbo', who they said were members of the 'Clansman' gang, which operates in Spanish Town.
Residents of Tredegar Park said about 20 armed men, dressed in dark-coloured clothing, invaded sections of the community known as Monkey Town and Backbush where they opened fire on several homes, then set fire to some about 1:00 am.
"Is pure head shot them give everybody in mi family. Mi go in there go see Joey on the ground; him get one of the shots in him back, and look like he was trying to call someone on his phone," said a man who identified himself as Hopelin Dennis' son.
"Nekfifa get shot on the bed between the baby them. And me go in there go see my mother crawling under the bed. She never dead yet; she get shot somewhere 'roun here," the man added, pointing to the back of his head.
"It look like the baby (Alexifia) jump up when she hear the shot them, and the bwoy them just put it on her same time," he added, tears welling up in his eyes.
The residents said the thugs then went to another premises where others were shot, before moving on to other houses where they sprayed bullets indiscriminately.
Two men luckily escaped with their lives after the hoodlums barged into their premises and stole several electrical appliances before setting the building on fire.
"If we never run through the back you would come see us lay down in there," said one of the men, recounting his ordeal.
Investigators were yesterday seeking five men, who they identified only by their aliases: 'Ears man', 'Deo', 'Fire Tail', 'Zeeks', and 'Isley Williams', in relation to the massacre, and said they would also like to speak with Clansman members Howard Jackson, otherwise called 'Thirty'; Novado Hodges; Simeon Elwig; Joel Jennings; and Glenton Anderson, otherwise called 'Brown'.
They are also asking Michael Maragh, otherwise called 'Coolie Mickey'; Rohan Hope, otherwise called 'Placka'; Everton Minott, otherwise called 'Rado'; and Marvin Baker, otherwise called 'Chiney', to report to the Spanish Town Police Station.
Yesterday, retired senior superintendent Reneto Adams, who visited the murder scene, was begged by fearful residents to assist them in ridding the area of criminals.
Adams said he was there to offer condolences to the affected families, and urged the police not to relent until the perpetrators are killed.
"I heard that two (gunmen) have been killed; they had their day in court," said Adams. "I hope the other three have their days in court; if you want me to be more explicit, have them found and killed," he said.

I think I have been away for quite awhile and little out of touch with the JCF hours of services -I can't imagine that police stations are being closed during the most deadly hours in JA (nights). This is like something straight out of a comic magazine (can't be serious). Am I dreaming can someone be kind enough to shake me back into reality before I finally cross over to next life permanently. These people died needlessly. I am praying for my country JAMAICA THE WILD WILD WEST.

Both set of suspects are associated to the JLP and PNP,politics and politicians remain a driving force in our crime rate - yet SOE left them untouched.SOE was only used like aspirin,it just subdued the pain temporarily as the guns and villains were all left out there. Are we that afraid to hold our politicians accountable we advocate the police to do extra judicial killings instead?

What are the chances of the people of Tredegar Park giving up THEIR Gangsters/Gunmen? Nil. You can bet your last penny most of that community know who their gangsters are. Will they give them up? Will they use their Phone-Cameras? Not a chance. Bloody Jamaicans.

The gunmen know that from about 11pm at nights the police stations are closed, and policemen retire for the night, and will not respond to emergency. They also know that the 119 emergency system is a total waste of time, so they were frre to go into that community an kill whomever they wnated to kill knowing that even if someone were to call 119, the police would never come, the 119 system just don't work thats a big part of the problem folks

You have two problems, a British adherent security compact (JCF-JDF) and crime. General McCrystal instructed his troops that each time you kill one Afghan citizen, you end up with four more enemies. The ratio for Jamaica mignt not be 73 enemies to one, but it may be more than four. When you deny people due process, you assure this growing cancer. This is what the JCF-JDF compact does best. Enjoy! And by the way, God bless YOUR queenie.

Most of the blame rest on the shoulders of the parents for these evil monsters. They were the ones who brought them into the world. Many of those killers were themselves abused both emotionally and physically by parents, who taught them to do evil, rather than to do good. A generation of ganja smoking, cocaine sniffing vipers that hate good and love to do evil. It is not for the police to apprehend anyone and execute them on the spot. Any member of the Police Force or Army who does that is a criminal because he or she is breaking the LAW and anyone who makes such statements in support of that type of lawless behavior must be condemned.
8/14/2010
My first reaction to the barbaric murders was Kill those thugs like animals!
Then soberness set in OK police maybe had right guy in Ochi but what happens when they are wrong? & that’s the dangerous path we take when police are judge jury & executioner
Already police own reports stated they killed 31 yr old gangster ‘Crabbie” yet it turns out to be a 15 yr old with similar name who ironically was staying over at friends after dance practice because of the shooting heard.
The pursuit of justice should not create more injustice & jungle justice is only fine until it turns up at your door step just ask Keith Clarke Family

8/14/2010
I think that they should create a bounty hunter team Adaams in charge of it and get some more good X Police who wants to join well trained men with one goal .This government have no intention of protecting the citizens of the country. At this timeanyone can fall prey to the criminals so give thrPolice all the info and help to get rid of these criminal.
8/14/2010
Reneto Adams - Calling for executions and extralegal justice - yes, quality leadership when you need it most. I don't know why the news media insist, insist, on giving this man any airtime. They are the ones making him out to be more significant than he is. He is just another bloodthirsty Jamaican, albeit one who has had much experience executing other Jamaicans. How he's different from "gunmen" is still a mystery to me.
8/14/2010
I hear what you are saying Mr. Reneto Adams, but why can't the police get someone to infiltrate these gangs to find out what is really driving them. When you kill them they take the information to the grave.
8/14/2010
I'm so sorry for their loss and the unnecessary act of violence especially inflicting harm to a innocent child. With that said I want the entire Jamaica and world to hear the admission from Reneto de Cordova Valentino Adams that the police meaning of court is KILLING. So don't you all see that Jamaica is a dog eat dog country fill with LAWLESSNESS. FAST AND PRAY. FAST AND PRAY.
8/14/2010
Is it time for another state of emergency - no I think we should wait until another 100 people are killed.
I cannot condone police abuse but my God how can we allow this situation to continue.
8/14/2010
When these crimanals are killed by the security force Carolyn Gomes and Yvonne Sobers are the first ones to condem the forces where. are they now when these crimanal have shot and killed innocent women children . You should change you name to JFC JAMAICAN FOR CRIMINAL. Why have'nt any of you come out and condem the killing of all those innocent people who was brutally murdered in Tredegar Park. Wait until one of your relatives or close family member is killed by one of these thugs .
8/14/2010
Quite apart from the foreign policemen there is (was) only one Jamaican I would trust implicitly with my life, giving him information without any fear of being identified. This man is former Senior Superintendent Renato Adams. I must confess that my regard for him is little less than worship. My only regret is that I have not been able to meet him and just shake his hand.
When he speaks his detractors try to ridicule him. But just listen to him. After TG he said Jamaica would regret the day. It has happened. He also said that people are presumed guilty until proven innocent. This is true in every jurisdiction in the world. Sometimes even when proven innocent, people still consider them guilty. It is hard to wash away the stain. He also says that we should kill others before they kill us. I know there will soon be a lot of people jumping up against him, but please read what he said and not put into it what you want to. God bless you Sir.
8/14/2010
I hope Mr Adams is advocating for the death penalty to be reinstated. This is exactly like the war events in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is a war between organized crime and the State. It is terror being practiced on Jamaica.
8/14/2010
This is very very sad,but am with Mr Adams 100% find them and wipe them out,
8/14/2010
My condolences to this family. All you Jamaicans who ever send guns and ammunitions to Jamaica, this is your doing. BLOOD IS ON YOUR HANDS AND ON THE HANDS OF YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN. Trust me you will pay a big price for this one. I sat at my computer and the tears is more than I anticipated, I am weak, I don't know this family, I don't know the area. This is one time that I totally agreed with Reneto Adams. Kill the S.O.B
To the JCF, go out and do your job, don't spare anyone of them.
8/14/2010
how in God's namer do we live with this mess, while politicians live in their ivory towers and "hear" about this from a distance. it is wickedness! gross wickedness! because it can be different.
8/14/2010
With all due respect Supt. Lewis this is not the time for ganja seizure or arrests for minor traffic violations and please dont tell the criminals where you are heading next.
This is the time for a total shut down of the area and a search of everything and everyone until all criminals have been apprehended or terminated. Call upon all Jamaicans to provide support for all the law abiding residents of the area during this operation. Do not let up! This is war and it must be treated as such.
8/14/2010
Absolutely Mr. Adams. And I might add with extreme prejudice. It is clear there are elements within the society that cannot be rehabilitated and are bent on savagery. They must be taken out of their misery by any means necessary.
The police I am sure are doing their best with what they have; but, it is time to seek outside help to hunt down these maggots who have no right to be among civilized people. Time for law abiding people to bear arms after meeting some basic requirements.
8/14/2010
Once again evil as come back to some part of our island where kids and old people are being killed in their beds, and we have politicians from both sides are silent in there out look. Now where are bleeding hearts like the Human Rights groups now? I agree with the former police Adams hunt them like dogs of which they are, kill them i dont want to be bought to the courts because it will be there for years and no witness will come forward. We are at war with these bastards, let loose the soldiers
8/14/2010
These scum of the earth should be hounded down and killed. Time and taxpayers money should not be wasted for a trial-only to have politicians and group activist supporting these murderers"rights". If members of the JCF want to vent their anger then this is a good opportunity to flush these thugs/muderers out of their slimmy holes then have themselves a blast of a time.
8/14/2010
i tell people that jamaica has reached a stage where anybody can be killed at any time & the perpetrators escape & they dont take me serious. this is like west indies cricket, though we want things to return to what they were back in the days it never will. i see 2 possible solutions. the 1st is divine intervention where God just wipes everybody out and start afresh. the 2nd is just sell jamaica to the chinese or Trinidad and let them organize things as they see fit.jamaicans will fall in line.
