Boulevard cops head back to court in March
Paul Henry
Monday, February 11, 2013
THE two police officers who are to be retried in the so-called Boulevard murder case are to reappear in the Home Circuit Court next month.
A March 15 mention date was set when the accused men appeared in court last Friday.
The unfinished transcript from the trial which ended in January prevented the court from setting a trial date at the end of last week.
Corporals Louie Lynch and Paul Edwards are to be retried for the murders of Kemar Walters and Oliver Duncan, who were handcuffed and taken from the Washington Plaza along Washington Boulevard in St Andrew, in December 2004.
Walters and Duncan were allegedly shot to death after being taken from the plaza.
Jurors were unable to reach a verdict at the end of the original court case and Justice Horace Marsh ordered a retrial.
Assistant Superintendent Victor Barrett was also tried along with the men, but was acquitted.
