Broadcaster on wounding rap remains in jail

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

THE gun-related trial of former KOOL FM broadcaster Wayne Whyte was last week postponed until April 9.

The matter had to be rescheduled as the witnesses were not available.

Also, Whyte was further remanded into police custody as an application for bail on his behalf was refused.

Whyte and co-accused Safari Farr are facing the court on charges of wounding with intent and illegal possession of a firearm.

The charges against the men followed the shooting of fellow media personality Jody-Ann Gray at her gate in April 2012.

Both Whyte and Gray worked at Kool FM at the time of the incident.

Police reports are that a then-pregnant Gray was shot twice, once in the face

and in the arm, by a gunman who escaped in a waiting motor car.
