Bunting suggests Gov't officials could be extradited

Saturday, September 04, 2010

CHRISTIANA, Manchester — General secretary of the People's National Party Peter Bunting appeared to speculate on Thursday night that Government officials could be indicted for extradition by the United States Government.

Addressing a North East Manchester PNP constituency meeting at the Christiana High School, Bunting quoted from news reports of damning allegations against the Government made by Police Federation chairman Raymond Wilson on Wednesday.

Wilson was commenting on the continuing controversy surrounding the Government's nine-month delay in acting to extradite former West Kingston don Christopher 'Dudus' Coke who is now before US courts on drug and gun-running charges; as well as the related hiring of a US law firm in relation to the extradition issue.

Bunting also reminded his audience of reports of "a new sealed indictment that has been lodged in the Court in New York..."

Against all that background, Bunting said: "What an embarrassment it would be if the next extradition request (shouts and applause from the audience), if the next extradition request is aimed at the same target that the cops were firing at (on Wednesday)?"

Asked yesterday to clarify and elaborate on his statement, Bunting an investment banker who is member of parliament for Central Manchester and Opposition spokesman on national security, said only "I was merely musing on what an embarrassment it (such a request for extradition) would be..."

He told PNP hardcore in Christiana that "now we are hearing from the Police Federation, brave men on the ground, who know what's going on and have the intelligence... they have the information and we have heard them add their voices, their courageous voices..."

Bunting charged that "never before in history has the good name of Jamaica been dragged through the mud the way it has been these past 12 months, every day some new embarrassing detail of this whole sordid affair leaks out".

He claimed that the "corrupt" Golding administration was "trying their best because their behaviour is indefensible to say 'well, we and the PNP are the same'."

But, he argued, comrades should "mash down that lie (because) no one has ever accused the leader of the PNP (or) a minister of government of turning the system upside down and using the system to protect and defend the criminals rather than the good police officers the way they did with 'Constable Red Herring'.

How will your Party deal with the issue of crime, considering the dismal failure during their tenure ?. One of the issue that I do have a problem with is that no one seem to be able to define "social intervention" even though it has become the mantra of some for the solution to crime. How would you prevent criminals from getting Government contracts under this "social intervention" ?. How would you go about expanding the numbers of Police Personell needed for hard policing ?.

Yeh, our good name. We are not the murder capital of the world, our ministers dont attend suspected drug don funerals or head fiefdoms called garrisons. This good name country would never have allowed a Dudus to get so powerful. Never. Our good name is too precious.

How come when the PNP addresses an audience they are described as "hardcore," but when the JLP addresses their audience no such emotive word is used?

I wonder if all these so call politians wish this country Jamaica well. When you listen to their inflamed speeches and what they support, one must stop and think seriously , where are we going as a people?Even if you think you gain political traction by your actions, our utterances only stand to tribalized our people. What would Bunting do if a PNP official is named to be extradited?. We still underestimate the intelligence of the Ja. people. I am speaking not only of the PNP but the JLP. too.

Look at what Bruce Golding action has caused! every Tom Dick and Harry can be taking pot shots at the Gov and the JLP. Every and anyone can now come up with the most outrageous suggestions, just to get a response or a forward. the "square peg" Bunting, having been placed in the round hole of National Security spokesman must find something of intrigue or interest to say. Him not being able to handle this porfolio with any level of competence must resort to fairy tales. PM stop the haemorrhaging!

It's rather unfortunate that someone like a Peter Bunting would seek to capitalise on some unfortunate remarks by a GOJ employee, Raymond Wilson, in his moment of frustration. Lest Mr. Bunting forget, the PNP and its leadership are no paragons of virtue and they have their fair share of corrupt and criminal types in its midst. Instead of 'musing' on hypotheticals how about the PNP offer up a compelling vision for Ja. going forward?

Why this guy don't keep his mouth shut. Spewing out all this hear-say crap is no better than what Bruce did. One could not pick 6 good politicians between the two parties.

Not a wise statement (however speculative) to say Mr. Bunting. Display a little more tact. The last statement was right on point however.

But the entire Jamaica is waiting on Dudus to finish deejaying to the US. We understand coke did not defend himself, we know who was defending dudus' constitutional rights, we know dudus' friends in high places, those who partied at west kgn jamboree 2010. So Bunting is just stating what we all expect to be public soon.

Bunting charged that "never before in history has the good name of Jamaica been dragged through the mud the way it has been these past 12 months, I WONDER IF MURDER CAPITAL OF THE WORLD WAS ONE OF OUR GOOD NAMES? Mr. Bunting is speculating again, sealed indictments, yet he knows who are being indicted, he must be HOUDINI! also DUDUS came to prominence during the 18.5 years of Mr. Bunting's party reign, so he can only fool the ones who are gullible.. go wheel and cum again.

Mr. Bunting seems to want the public to forget Trafigura and Kern Spencer light bulbs. These incidents show that the PNP has a propensity to take from the public purse. Bunting sounds like the PNP pot calling the JLP kettle black. Yes the JLP seems to be under the control or organized crime. But the PNP garrisons seem also to indicate links with organized crime. Whats the public to do? Putting the PNP back in power is not a solution for Jamaica. We need another option.
