Captain Barkey received death threats - source

Sunday, October 14, 2012 | 10:23 AM

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Reports have emerged that Captain Barkey received several death threats mere weeks before his killing in New York on Saturday.

According to sources close to the former deejay, the threats were in connection to a relationship that Captain Barkey was having with a woman.

Sources also report that a few weeks ago Captain Barkey was advised by his long-time friend and deejay partner Wickerman to avoid the relationship.

Captain Barkey’s bullet-riddled body was found by NY police in a parking lot outside a motel in the Bronx, New York early Saturday morning.

A 38-year-old woman with Captain Barkey was also shot and killed, police reported..

It’s uncertain if the alleged threats against Captain Barkey were in connection to the woman killed Saturday.

Captain Barkey, whose real name is Wayne Hamilton, was a veteran of the sound system circuit. He and Wickerman had a few minor hits before topping local charts 16 years ago with the song  Go Go Wine
