Clash of hands throws Parchment off balance
BIRMINGHAM, England - Jamaica’s hurdles rising star Hansle Parchment finished at the back of the field in the men’s 110m hurdles race at today’s Aviva Birmingham Grand Prix Diamond League after a clash of hands early in the race.
Parchment, who won the bronze medal at the London Olympics two weeks ago, had his worst outing of the season, clocking 13.76 seconds after hitting the second and fourth hurdles and getting thrown of balance.
Ordinarily one of the smoothest hurdlers, Parchment told the Observer after the race he was accidentally hit early in the race, “someone hit my hand and it threw me off,” but he hurried to say “I am OK though.”
Olympic champion Aries Merritt won the race in a meet record 12.95 seconds while World Champion Jason Richardson was second in a personal best 12.98 seconds.
