Commish congratulates cops for apprehending alleged killers

Tuesday, August 28, 2012 | 10:13 AM

COMMISSIONER of Police Owen Ellington, officer in charge of Area 3, Derrick Cochrane, and the rest of the police high command, are today commending members of the Clarendon and Manchester police divisions for successfully apprehending three alleged gunmen yesterday.

The men, who are accused of robbing a man of his motor car, killing him, then discarding his body along the Spur Tree main road in Manchester, were nabbed in separate incidents by the Mandeville and Clarendon police.

According to the commissioner, the outcome was realised through strong policing efforts that utilised basic principles such as observation, and was assisted greatly by an environment of open and clear communication.

Ellington said the incident was a reminder to all members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force of what can be achieved when police officers support each other.

He used the opportunity to urge all members of the force to continue to conduct their duties with diligence and zeal.

Meanwhile, the identities of the men are being withheld pending further investigations.
