Contractor General holds firm against Wedderburn
Jamaica Observer
Tuesday, June 14, 2011
CONTRACTOR GENERAL Greg Christie and the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica's Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) Project Coordinator Stephen Wedderburn are at daggers drawn.
Christie's office today issued a release in reply to Wedderburn's response to the OCG's recent investigation into allegations regarding a proposal for financing, developing, owning and operating a FSRU LNG Re-Gasification Terminal and Natural Gas Transportation System last week.
Wedderburn questioned the integrity of the 609-page report and described it 'shoddy', 'fundamentally flawed' and biased in the information.
But Christie stood firm behind his findings.
"The OCG first wishes to categorically and unequivocally state that it stands firmly and unconditionally behind the findings, conclusions, recommendations and referrals that are embodied in its report of investigation. The OCG is very confident about the integrity of its Report and is also satisfied that it is possessed with adequate documentary and sworn written evidence to fully support, substantiate and defend all of its stated positions," Christie said.
Christie said his office will also show that Wedderburn has, substantially misstated the facts of the matter, contradicted the sworn and written evidence which has been formally entered upon the OCG's records of investigation and significantly misguided himself on the applicable laws as they relate to investigations conducted by the Contractor General.
