Convicted cop to be sentenced Jan 25

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

RUSHON Hamilton, the police constable convicted for the murder of a 14-year-old girl, will be sentenced on January 25.

The date was set when Hamilton appeared in the Home Circuit Court Monday.

Hamilton was scheduled to be sentenced in December but his lawyers were served with his social enquiry just before the hearing. As a result, the matter was adjourned until Monday for a sentencing date to be set.

Hamilton was convicted in October for the murder of Jhaneel Goulbourne, the teenager with whom he is alleged to have had a sexual relationship.

Goulbourne was abducted from her Harbour View, St Andrew home on October 24, 2008. Evidence was given during the trial that Hamilton confessed to a cellmate that he killed the girl at sea and dumped her body.
