Cop's aim is to see Spanish Town a tourist destination
Friday, January 04, 2013 | 12:40 PM
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The St Catherine North Police say that despite last year's success in bringing down crime levels in the volatile parish capital they are still not satisfied.
"My ultimate aim is to see Spanish Town become an area become frequented by tourists," Anthony Castel, head of the St Catherine North Police Division told the Observer today.
Castel said that based on type of criminal activities that took place in the old capital he was not comfortable with just statistics.
St Catherine North was among seven police divisions that recorded double-digit reductions last year.
The St Catherine capital, with warring factions linked to both major political parties, has been a flashpoint for criminal activity for a number of years.
