A policeman has found himself in hot water after losing his service weapon under dubious circumstances yesterday.

The policeman, who is assigned to the Traffic Department, went to use the restroom at a gas station on Eastwood Park Road in St Andrew and reportedly left the weapon inside the room. However, when the policeman realised that he had left his gun, he rushed back into the bathroom only to find that someone had removed the weapon.

Despite a frantic search, the gun was

not found.

Under Jamaican law, a member of the constabulary who loses his/her weapon can be charged with negligence.
