MANDEVILLE, Manchester – Assistant Commissioner of Police for Area 3 — Manchester, Clarendon and St Elizabeth — Kevin Blake says that the effects of the sick-out among its members, prompted by a breakdown in negotiations with the Government for better wages, are still being felt.
"We do have a challenge with respect to attendance at work," he told the OBSERVER ONLINE Wednesday.
Blake said, however, that the police men and women on duty are able to function with the assistance of the military.
He said that "critical areas" including places in the divisions considered as "hotspots" are manned.
The sick-out by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has continued despite an injunction obtained by Attorney General Patrick Atkinson against the Jamaica Police Federation, advising that they are restrained for 28 days to engage in activities that would result in its members withholding their services.
