KINGSTON, Jamaica  — Residents in Waterhouse St Andrew, especially those living close to the intersection of Balcombe Avenue and Penwood Road, are pleading with the authorities to repair roads in the community.

Residents say that over the past five years an uncovered manhole at the location has caused several injuries but in recent times the problem has worsened.

"The problem is so bad that even vehicles being driven by the police, the Jamaica Defence Force as well as by civilians have fallen into the uncovered hole," Marcia, a resident said this morning.

"If them no fix it going cause a major problem," agreed Mark another Waterhouse resident.

He also complained that residents were also plagued by a continuing sewage problem.

"Right where there is the uncovered manhole there are also several broken sewage pipes and this is a major health problem,” the resident said.
