Digicel pays tribute to Mandela

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

(From left) Digicel's Human Resources Director Andrea Chung welcomes Lady Allen, wife of Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, to the activities Centre at the Bustamante Hospital for Children during last Wednesday's celebration of Mandela Day. Looking on is Digicel Foundation's Executive Director Samantha Chantrelle.

The Digicel Foundation treated 67 children from the Mustard Seed Communities and Genesis Academy to a movie outing, while another 67 children at the Bustamante activities centre were given books and read to. The significance of the number 67 marked the number of years Mandela spent fighting for human rights.

Meantime, South African High Commission to Jamaica Mathu Joyini joined the Digicel team in handing over books to the Bustamante Hospital and also read to the children on ward. The children were further treated to face-painting by clowns, popcorn and refreshments.
