DOCTOR Lloyd Goldson, who is accused of performing an abortion on a 12-year-old girl, is scheduled to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on September 12.
The medical doctor is facing charges of procuring abortion and administering a drug to procure abortion, which he has denied.
The child's mother Tanyneshia Spencer is in the meantime facing a charge of failing to report child abuse and cruelty to a child.
Both accused this week had their bails extended by Resident Magistrate Georgianna Fraser when the matter came up for mention in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Court.
Both were arrested and charged on July 11 following allegations that Goldson performed the illegal act on the juvenile.
According to a police report, about 3:30 pm on July 4 Spencer allegedly took her daughter, who was four months pregnant, to Goldson's office who allegedly performed the operation.
The matter was later brought to the attention of the police, who reportedly went to the mother's home and took the child to the Kingston Public Hospital after she reported that she was in pain.
Goldson's lawyer Charles Williams has maintained that his client performed the act to save the girl's life.
