Don't be afraid! police tell Tivoli residents

Police armoured vehicle shot-up

JamaicaObserver.com

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

WITH the community now barricaded police are appealing to law-abiding residents of Tivoli Gardens and Denham Town to call them if they need assistance.

The barricades have been reinforced by barbed wire attached to high voltage Jamaica Public Service electricity distribution lines. Liquid petroleum gas cylinders have also been inserted into the barricades.

Police said that besides building barricades, criminals are preventing residents from leaving and confiscating their mobile phones. They also confirmed that a police armoured personnel carrier was shot-up this morning while travelling in Denham Town.

"The Police are also appealing to these residents to report any acts of criminality and are assuring these citizens that they have nothing to fear from the presence of the security forces as we intend to conduct our operations in a professional manner in accordance with the law and in the interest of all concerned," said a statement from the Jamaica Constabulary Force today.

Residents can call police control at 119 or senior duty officers at 978-6462 and 927-7778 to report any concerns or any information coming to their notice.

I'm convinced that many of the readers here aren't Jamaican, but subversive elements inside and outside Jamaica...I remembered after 9/11 America waged an illegal war against another country, thousands died before and after the war, and even to the present. Most American never until this day defied their President, neither Berated him even though he was unfavourable worldwide and viewed as an ediot!
Why are some of us so stupid??? quick to teardown each other, even when we disagree with The leadership of Jamaica, and there are many, Lets elivate ourself to another level, not stuck in the mire..

Personally I dont believe dudus is there. I think this is a distraction. And the government might be participating in it. But remember satellite is on jamaica, so dem can play all the games in the world. As for the innocent people, bruce and dudus dont give a damn. The innocent people are who Dwight Nelson called collateral damage, you mean nothing to them. We need to stop pretending, the 27 people killed in 2001/2 were placed in the line of fire by the don himself. It reminds me of the movie called "rules of engagement". Dudus you are a wicked man and shall pay the penalty for all the innocent bloodshed. Bruce you will pay too.
Bruce knows Portia will hold him accountable for this debacle, therefore he will try to hold on as long as possible. They will try and eliminate all threats to their freedom. But Jamaica nuh si di real guerrilla dem yet, the real freedom fighters. Trust mi, these are the ma ma warriors who will deal with it like the days of bozrah. Bruce you draw bad card

I concur Doug, this is a perfect opportunity for bruce to try and redeem himself by authorizing any force necessary and make a clean sweep of Tivoli (metal detectors and all) not with the intention of ascertaining Dudus (because its highly unlikely he is there) but make a stance against "garrison". Based on the result shift to another volatile area.

Is this suppose to be a joke "police are appealing to law-abiding residents of Tivoli Gardens and Denham Town to call them if they need assistance" ? Police went there this afternoon to remove barracades and was met with bullets. Agreed @ jason m, no point in argue and relationalizing with animals....just drop di bomb.

Brave Words indeed, maybe the Police can explain to the good citizens of Tivoli Gardens (if there are any left) exactly how are they going to protect them when they cant even clear a roadblock to enter the community. We in Jamaica are simply reaping the whirlwind for years of worshipping at the feet of these murderers who simply because they can stuff our stomachs with curry goat and cold beers we treat them like gods. The only way to solve this crises is to treat the community of Tivoli Gardens as a rogue state and deploy whatever Force that is necessary to bring it under the control of the Government of Jamaica.

For all well-thinking Jamaicans, please remember that there are young innocent children in Tivoli as well as old men and women, who I am sure want (ed?) no part or lot with this. Thanks, all you disgusting politicians that contributed to the creation and maintenance of these enclaves where now some innocent citizens cannot do as they please. I truly am concerned about the young children and the older citizens.

Bye the way why is PM Bruce is saying sorry for what JLP leader Bruce has done?

By removing and preventing the barricdes THAT would send a strong signal the police is in control and reassure the residents - cowering a safe distance away and uttering these words only heighten the tension - it seems to say you are on your own.

That is war; that smacks of terrorism. Again, are we going to sit by and accept that? There must be some laws buried in our Constitution that allows mass arrests for these acts.

@jason m I somewhat agree but there has to be a mass evacuation for those who choose to leave at check points. Then the US Navy is on standby so move in and get the culprit(s). Blow up, knock down, run over any obstacles, if you have been there you know there is nothing worth saving in that community. Rebuild after like they did with the fishermen by the causeway. Probably end up with a much better home. Bless up my people, the time is now.

Really now Jason. If you were one of the many law-abiding citizens in Tivoli who are told that if they leave they can't come back , would you want to be eradicated? You must be fair.

Thus the war begins. I believe this operation will require the Army. Has the prime minister called them out yet?

' ... call them if they need assistance" ??? Why is it that everyone who is authorised to speak for any entity always come with some 'daft' statement. How can you get to them to help if YOU CAN'T EVEN REMOVE THE BARRICADES ????????? Jesus man. is like unu waan de people dem get murdered eena de fortress?

I really try to understand the GOJ and how they think when it comes to crime. The moment the blockade was errected it should have been destroyed why wait, some people of TG feels as if their Don is above the law so they are above the law as well. I pray for those innocent people who are chastise because they are from that community. Dwight Nelson is all talk, but nothing actually comes out of his mouth. When Dudus is arrested it might be one of the police that is already on his payroll.

The residents of Tivoli Gardens are law abiding citizens, Edward Sega can confirm this, they would not even hurt a fly.
The other citizens of the Jamaica are the bad ones.

Just drop a bomb in there. Mass eradication. Problem solved.
