Despite a sharp spike in the murder rate which saw 165 murders recorded between January 1 and February 18, Bunting expressed satisfaction with the Ellington's performance in the drive which has resulted in a reduction in crime, particularly murders, and the JCF’s overall execution of the administration’s crime fighting strategies.
“He has been successful, and we expect him to continue that success. And, he will get the support of myself, as Minister, and of the administration. We want him to be confident in prosecuting the operations for which he has responsibility…He has the policy support of the Government,” he said.
