GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands (AP) — Authorities say an English police officer who was recently transferred to the Cayman Islands has died while scuba diving.

Police say 54-year-old Chris Devereux of Liverpool died yesterday after losing consciousness while diving with a friend near the capital of George Town.

Devereux had worked for 30 years as a policeman in England before he was assigned to the Cayman Islands this year to help in an anti-crime drive.
