Exmar's gift to the Caribbean Maritime Institute
Sunday, September 26, 2010
Captain Emmanuel Aguirie (left), LNG operations and projects manager at Exmar, presents a model of the Belgian firm's first LNG regassification vessel to Vivette Grant, deputy executive director of the Caribbean Maritime Institute (CMI), last Thursday at the CMI. Sharing the moment are (from 2nd left) Fritz Pinnock, CMI executive director; Ruth Banks-Hanson, CMI's placement manager; and Izualo Campbell, CMI's finance director.
In June this year, the Cabinet approved the opening of negotiations with Exmar for establishing a floating storage and regassification facility at Port Esquivel, St Catherine, that, the administration says, will result in Jamaica enjoying cheaper and cleaner natural gas by 2013.
