FBI nabs fugitive in British Virgin Islands

Thursday, September 20, 2012

TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands (AP) — Authorities in the British Virgin Islands have arrested a man sought by the FBI in a 2009 fatal shooting in South Florida.

The FBI said yesterday that Juan Felipe Castaneda was arrested as he returned from a trip to the Dominican Republic. He and four other suspects are accused of shooting a man they believed stole a large quantity of marijuana from them.

Castaneda also is charged with kidnapping, carjacking and conspiracy to distribute 1,000 or more marijuana plants.

FBI officials had said they believed Castaneda was living in Puerto Rico.

The four other suspects were arrested in early June.
