Sunday, November 25, 2012 | 5:51 PM

SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth – The Santa Cruz police are investigating the cause of a fire which destroyed four wooden shops in the Mandeville bus park on the eastern side of the town early this morning.

The police say no one was hurt in the fire but damage is estimated at $2 million.

Reports are that at about 3:45am, the owner of two of the four shops was asleep when he was alerted by people on the outside that the building was on fire.

He ran from the structure but a hairdressing parlour and three cook shops were destroyed. Appliances including a refrigerator and a music system were among the items destroyed.
