RUNAWAY BAY, St Ann  — The police in St Ann have charged four men in connection with the deadly attack on a family at a villa here earlier this month.

The four men, all from Runaway Bay addresses, were charged Tuesday evening for the murder of 36-year-old Gavin Campbell, a Jamaican living in Orlando, Florida in the United States.

Those charged are 20-year-old Lorenzo McDonald, 22-year-old Mark Brown, Kevin Bailey, 22 and 20-year-old Eric Ramgeet.

The men are expected to appear in the St Ann’s Bay Resident Magistrate's court next week.

Police had earlier reported that on July 7 about 10:30 pm, several family members were at the Valley High Villa at Cardiff Hall in Runaway Bay when several men armed with guns, knives and other offensive weapons invaded the premises.

The men reportedly demanded money, jewellery, cellular phones and other valuables. A tussle reportedly developed between the robbers and family members who resisted, during which Campbell was shot.

One of the robbers, who was seriously injured during the melee, remains in hospital under police guard. The other three men reportedly handed in themselves to police on different occasions.
