Four ex-cons held for city robberies

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

FOUR men accused of committing a number of robberies and break-ins in Kingston were held by members of the Flying Squad over the weekend.

The Flying Squad said the men, identified as ex-prisoners, had been creating havoc by committing burglaries within the Kingston and St Andrew area. "So far, based on police analysis, these men have robbed more than 20 homes in these area," the police said.

Several stolen items, said the police, were recovered by the members of the Flying Squad when they detained the men, following several operations in the city.

Persons whose homes have been broken into in recent times were asked to visit the Flying Squad at 127-129 Harbour Street, downtown Kingston, "to identify and recover their items, even if they had not reported the crime".

At the same time, the Flying Squad has advised persons, especially those living in the Kingston Metropolitan Area, to be cautious as men linked to several robberies sometimes pose as police officers and/or security guards conducting security checks.
