ALEXANDRIA, St Ann — A 70-year-old woman who allegedly threw a cup of hot coffee on her 13-year-old grandson, after the boy failed to make enough of the beverage, is now facing a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

Allegations are that on August 9, Iris Wright, a resident of Green Hill, St Ann, asked her grandson to make coffee. The woman was displeased with the small amount of coffee the boy made and allegedly threw the hot liquid on him.

The boy had to be taken to the hospital to get medical attention.

Wright was charged on Tuesday, August 19 and is expected to face the court in October.
