CLASSES were yesterday suspended at Bethel College in Clarendon as students and teachers reacted in shock to the death of principal Kenrick Tyndale.
Police said the body of the 27-year-old school principal, who went missing on Sunday, was found on Monday wrapped in a sheet in the back of a car parked along a dirt track in Palmetto Pen.
Colville Webb, chairman of the school board, said the gruesome discovery had left school officials and students in shock.
"This tragic incident has really left the school community traumatised," said Webb, who described Tyndale as a young man who had a zeal and a passion for education.
"We are all still in shock; many off us have been left traumatised," one teacher told the Jamaica Observer.
Joan Morgan, secretary at the school, said some students wept for hours yesterday and a number of them had to be consoled, while others had to be provided with counseling from officials from the Ministry of Education who visited the school
"He was a bright spark, he was someone who we all admired," Morgan said.
Teachers, students and members of the community called on the police to leave no stones unturned in their search for the person(s) responsible for the principal's death.
"Right now we are calling on the police to use all their resources to go after the perpetrators of this crime," said a teacher
The Clarendon police have launched an investigation into the matter.
