MEMBERS of the St Catherine South Police Division on Monday seized two firearms and several rounds of ammunition during an operation in Windsor Heights.

According to the police, at about 3:15 pm officers were in the community when they came up on a group of men at a camp, who allegedly opened fire on them. The gunfire, the police said, was returned and the men ran from the scene.

"A search of the camp was conducted and one Glock 17 pistol with an extended magazine containing seven rounds of ammunition; one Taurus 9 mm pistol with two magazines; and 19 rounds of ammunition, 25 rounds of 7.62 cartridges, a total of six cellular phones, two pairs of binoculars, assorted medication, flashlights, gloves and military fatigue were seized," said the Constabulary Communication Network , the police's information arm.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
