Hanover's Ja 50 celebrations start tomorrow

LUCEA, Jamaica — Jamaica 50 celebrations for the parish of Hanover kicks off tomorrow with an Emancipation vigil and gospel show in the town of Lucea.
Activities for the parish will continue on August 2 in the community of Logwood with a street dance.
Street dances will also be held in Hopewell on August 3, as well as in Chester Castle on the 5th of August.
A Hanover 50 Anniversary Banquet and Awards Ceremony is also planned for the Grand Palladium Hotel in the parish for August 4, while a thanksgiving service will be held at the Lucea United Church on Sunday August 5.
On August 6, a civic ceremony and street dance will be held in Lucea square, while a fun day, float and costume parade will follow at Watson Taylor Park. The day's activities will conclude at the park with a Grand Gala commencing at 8:00 pm.
