Hotel worker dies in fiery crash
GREEN ISLAND, Hanover — A 27-year-old hotel worker died yesterday morning in what was described by onlookers as a 'mysterious accident' in Hanover.
The deceased has been identified as Wayon Wilson, a resident of Grange Hill, Westmoreland.
Wilson, who was employed to the Riu Palace Tropical Bay Hotel in Negril, was badly burnt when his Toyota motor car crashed on the Salt Creek main road. Police said the accident took place about 4:15 am. They said it appeared that the driver was speeding. They also said it appeared that the car had been modified.
Shaken colleagues of the deceased said he had earlier left a staff party to drop off a friend in Orange Bay and was heading home when the incident took place.
Police investigators theorise that Wilson lost control of the car, which ran off the road and into bushes. The vehicle reportedly burst into flames with Wilson aboard.
Wilson's co-workers described him as a hard-working bartender at the hotel. They also said he loved his car and kept upgrading it.
