Hurricane Earl strengthening on way to Leewards

Earl
AT 4:00 pm the centre of Hurricane Earl was located near latitude 17.6 degrees north and longitude 59.5 degrees west or about 245 kilometres east of Barbuda and 385 kilometres east of St Martin.
Earl is moving toward the west-northwest near 22 km/h. This general motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected during the next day or so. A turn toward the northwest is forecast tomorrow night or Tuesday. On the forecast track, the centre of Earl will pass near or over the northern-most Leeward Islands tonight and tomorrow.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 140 km/h, with higher gusts, making Earl a category one hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Additional strengthening is expected during the next 48 hours and Earl is expected to become a major hurricane tomorrow.
Danielle
AT 4:00 pm the centre of Hurricane Danielle was located near latitude 38.0 degrees north and longitude 54.5 degrees west or about 975 kilometres south of Cape Race, Newfoundland.
Danielle is moving toward the north-northeast near 46 km/h. The cyclone is predicted to move toward the northeast at a slower speed during the next two days.
Maximum sustained winds are near 130 km/h, with higher gusts. Danielle is a category one hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours. It is anticipated that the cyclone will become a large and powerful extra-tropical cyclone in about two days.
Neither Hurricane Earl nor Hurricane Danielle are threats to Jamaica.
