KINGSTON, Jamaica - Olympic triple medalist, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce said she was somewhat disappointed at the Olympics because she could have run faster.

The back-to-back 100m champion ran 10.70 at the National Trial in June and was certain that a time in the 10.60s was possible, she told the US’ PIX Morning News today.

It did not happen, as she ran 10.75 seconds to retain her Olympic title at The London Games.

Additionally, she said Jamaicans went to the Games with the intent to “go out with a bang” in their fiftieth year of independence.

Fraser-Pryce was being interviewed about her co-hosting role in this year’s Hummingbird Gala in New York.

The event is put on by The American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ), a charitable group, and proceeds will go to local charities that support education, healthcare and economic development.

The Cornwall Regional Hospital has benefitted significantly from the AFJ’s efforts in the past, the organisers say.

The Gala is being held at the Marriott-Marquis in Times Square, New York on Thursday, October 25.
