Saturday, August 25, 2012 | 7:29 AM

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Tropical storm Isaac is approaching eastern Cuba and is likely to make landfall there this afternoon, the Meteorological Service says.

A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Jamaica.

In its 5:00am bulletin the Met Service reported that rain bands associated with Isaac will affect the island today. Showers and thunderstorms could produce between three to six inches of rain across some parishes. Thunderstorm is forecast for most parishes

Isaac is moving towards the northwest near 22 km/h (14 mph) and a west-northwest to northwest motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days with some increase in forward speed.  On the forecast track, the centre of Isaac will move near or over eastern Cuba tonight and approach the Florida Keys on Sunday.
